Birte Leonhardt studied Journalism and Communication Studies in her Master’s degree at the University of Vienna. She completed her Bachelor's degree at the TU Dresden (Germany) in Media Research / Media Practice and Political Science.

Prior to her doctoral studies, she worked as a tutor for empirical research methods and as a study assistant at TU Dresden. In addition to her Master's, she did project-based research with Folker Hanusch and Daniel Nölleke on scientists as media experts during Covid-19.
